according to the terms of use. Minoan Palace This set is based on the art and architectural style of the "Palace of King Minos" at Knossos, Crete. The style began to be called Minoan by Sir Arthur Evans who excavated the site at Knossos. The name Minoan is derived from King Minos, the legendary Cretan King. The Minoan artistic style is noted for its swirl/wave motifs and for its unusual columns that were often painted red with black capitals and bases. Ochres were also used frequently in their color schemes. If you're interested in learning more about ancient Minoan art and culture you can start out at Palace of Knossos in Minoan Crete.
